ULI Announces 10 Winners of the Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence
ULI Singapore’s UrbanPlan for Public Officers is a realistic and engaging exercise that explores the fundamental forces that affect real estate development in our communities. Participants ask critical questions, experience diverse roles in the private and public sector, navigate complex trade-offs, and uncover the fundamental economics at play, as they race to propose land use solutions to vexing growth challenges.
UrbanPlan participants from different government agencies form competing development teams to respond to a simulated government land sales site. Team members work together to create a feasible proposal that meets the city’s objectives, the community’s interests, and investors’ bottom line.
In this volunteer training, experienced urban professionals were trained to act as facilitators to challenge participants to improve their proposals.
UrbanPlan participants develop an understanding of the various forces and stakeholders in a development process.
Participants reconcile the often compelling yet competing agendas to create a well-designed, market responsive, and sustainable project.
