On 29 August, Billy Grayson, Executive Director at ULI’s Center for #Sustainability and Economic Performance, joined a public lecture in Singapore hosted by the Centre for Liveable Cities, and supported by ULI Singapore. The panel was moderated by ULI member Esther An, Chief Sustainability Officer at City Developments Limited. The lecture was sold out, with over 230 attendees listening to Billy and Esther discussing the findings of the new ULI report – Scorched: Extreme Heat and Real Estate. Attendees were most interested to learn about extreme heat as an evolving, immediate impact on our built environment, and discuss the real estate and development perspective on heat issues in our cities.
The report explains the science and impact of extreme heat, discusses implications and opportunities for the real estate sector, and explores the emerging policy landscape that regulates this hazard. A companion mini-report – Scorched: Extreme Heat and Real Estate in Asia Pacific – specifically looks at how Asian cities are impacted by extreme heat, and how developers are looking to mitigate heat island impacts.
